Michigan State University (MSU) HealthTeam appreciates payment at the time of service. We understand that isn’t always possible and offer you several convenient options to pay for medical services. You can learn more about how to pay by method under each section below.

Payments are applied to the oldest outstanding charges on your account. Please allow ten business days for your payment to be reflected on your account. For students, outstanding university obligations can restrict your access if a financial hold is placed by the university on your account. We offer the convenience of online bill payment. Available day or night, the free service is always on. The system uses the latest security and encryption methods to complete your transaction. Your credit, debit or personal information is not stored.
Please have your invoice and credit, debit or health spending account card with you. You will need the information from these sources to complete the transaction.
If you are on or near campus, you may prefer to pay your bill in person. Our patient account representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. We accept cash, personal checks, credit cards (Mastercard, VISA, and American Express) debit cards, and health spending account cards.

We accept checks and credit cards by mail. Please use the envelope provided along with your invoice for the fastest service. Please do not staple your check to the invoice. Allow ten business days for your payment to be processed.

Payments are accepted by phone. Call 1-800-964-3968 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. It is best if you have your invoice or statement with you, but if you don’t, we can look up your information and assist you.
We accept credit cards (Mastercard, VISA, and American Express,) debit cards, and health spending account cards for payments by phone.
Assistance is granted by applying for financial hardship at least 30 days prior to any service being rendered.
Our patient accounts staff will work with you to establish an appropriate payment plan based on the amount due and your financial status. It is important to work with patient accounts by providing financial information that is essential to establish a budget plan or financial hardship determination.
Financial hardship determination does not affect a patient’s ability to receive care from a MSU HealthTeam provider.
To apply, complete the Financial Hardship Application at least 30 days prior to service, or within 30 days after emergency care service.
