Swine-Origin Influenza A (H1N1) Virus - Latest Information
*
MSU HealthTeam is actively monitoring and implementing all recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) and the Ingham County Health Department (ICHD). These actions are being implemented to provide safe care to patients, and to minimize potential exposure to staff, providers, and other patients.
For the most current information from the CDC
, as well as recommendations on how best to keep you and your family healthy, click on the following:
http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu
. More detailed information, provided in a question and answer format can be found at
http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/swineflu_you.htm
.
If you believe you may have been exposed and are experiencing symptoms
(fever and one of the following – cough, sore throat, or rhinorrhea /nasal congestion), please follow these steps:
Call your HealthTeam provider’s office and describe your symptoms.
Your provider may give you instructions on how to care for your symptoms at home.
If you are asked to come to the office, immediately speak with the receptionist when you arrive. Let the receptionist know that you have been asked to come to the office for evaluation of your symptoms. You will be taken to an examination room as soon as possible.
Remember to always follow appropriate respiratory hygiene:
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Immediately throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
Try to remain at least 3 feet from others who are not ill.
