Endocrinology - CHM
Overview:
The Division of Endocrinology at Michigan State University offers outpatient services at the Clinical Center and the Diabetes Center located at Sparrow Professional Building. We are committed to providing you with compassionate, patient-centered health care. All of our Endocrinologists are board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine as well as in the subspecialty of Endocrinology.

Outpatient Services:

Our outpatient services include General Endocrinology new patient and follow up visits at the MSU Clinical Center, as well as Diabetic Clinics that offer specialized diabetes instruction and classes at the Sparrow Professional Building campus.

Inpatient Services:

Our inpatient services are provided at both Sparrow Health Systems and Ingham Regional Medical Center. We provide constant and complete coverage at both institutions for all your endocrinology needs. At both locations, we are able to provide inpatient consultation services as well as referral for specialized testing and surgery.

What are Endocrinology Fellows?

Endocrinology Fellows are board certified physicians in Internal Medicine that have chosen to continue their education in the specialty of endocrinology. Our nationally accredited training program accepts one physician each year into our two year program. We have a total of two endocrinology fellows in training. The fellows participate intimately in your care whether at our outpatient clinic site or in the hospital.

How do I make an appointment?

Your primary care physician may refer you by calling or faxing a request to our office. We do require a physician referral and records from prior testing are necessary to make the most of your consultation.

What to expect from your appointment

If you are new to our practice, prior to your appointment with us you will be sent forms for completion. We ask that you bring these completed forms with you to your appointment; this will assist us in serving you better.

All patients should bring their picture identification, insurance cards and copay with them for each appointment. You will be asked to complete a short health survey update each time you visit our clinic to assist our physicians in updating your records. The physician will review this with you during your visit as well as address your issues and concerns. During your visit with us you may expect to have contact with several individuals including our reception and check out staff, our health care assistant, an endocrinology fellow, the attending physician (the endocrinologist) and perhaps an Internal Medicine resident. Every effort will be made to provide you with the most comprehensive as well as time efficient appointment as possible.

Telephone and Office Hours

Our clinic is open and telephones are on Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon and again from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Anytime you call our office you will be connected with a “live” person (no phone tree) who is happy to take your call and assist you as necessary. In the event you are calling with a message requiring physician or nurse assistance, our receptionists will take a message for you and route it accordingly. Please note that many reports or results take on average 72 hours before they are final and provided to us. Please do not call regarding results until at least three days after the testing has been completed. Also, if a test has been requested by your primary care physician, you will need to contact that physician for the results.
